Holy throwdown, Batman!

This Memorial Day (Monday, May 31) Steamboat Springs, Colo., is the place to be for the fifth annual Paddling Life Pro Invitational, which wraps up the 30th Annual Yampa River Festival. Watch the best men and women kayakers in the world compete in a one-day, two-event competition for cash and prizes and year-long bragging rights.

Who'll be on hand for the creek race/freestyle showdown?
Some of the top competitors in the world, with past participants including current world freestyle kayak champions Nick Troutman and Emily Jackson, former world freestyle kayak champion Ruth Gordon, world kayak freestyle silver medalist Andrew Holcombe, Bryan Kirk, and more.

“It’s an awesome event,” says inaugural winner Jay Kincaid. “Not many events test both creek boating and freestyle.”

With the top overall score determining the champion, the event will be followed by a post-event party featuring local bands, beer and other surprises. Last year’s event was a raging success for competitors and spectators alike, garnering TV from Resort Sports Network.
